Master of Science in Information Engineering Programme
Established in 1989, the Department of Information Engineering was the first Information Engineering Department in Hong Kong. It has gained a world-wide reputation for its leading edge research and top quality programmes. Among its 23 faculty members, there are 7 IEEE Fellows,
the highest number among all engineering department in Hong Kong and China.
The Master of Science in Information Engineering programme was established in 1997, aiming at offering an all-round taught-postgraduate programme to develop information and communication technology leaders. We offer business courses like IE and Technology Management, Innovation & Entrepreneurship; technology courses like Advanced Network Protocols and Systems, System Administration and
Network Security; and application courses like Knowledge Management, eLearning Technologies, Pedagogies, and Engineering Practices. For
more choices, you can also select courses from other engineering programmes in our engineering school. The study experience in MScIE is
further enriched with diverse activites including seminars, workshops, and community events.
This is a taught master programme. Students are awarded the Master of Science degree by taking a minimum of eight courses within one year of study. According to the immigration policy of the HK government (http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/id991.htm ), students are eligible to
work and stay in Hong Kong after obtaining the M.Sc. degree (students are given at least one year after graduation to find a job in HK). The
tuition fee for the programme is HK$82,000. We also offer scholarship up to HK$10,000 for students with excellent academic record.
