Shanghai Criminal Police: From August 2 to 5, 2018, Prof. Gao and Associate Professor Wang were invited to visit Shanghai Criminal Police and discussed the further cooperation on the topic of heterogeneous facial image synthesis and recognition. Activity for IGE Society of SIE: On May 7, 2016, the image and graphics society of Shaanxi Institute of Electronics conducted an activity at the new campus of Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology (Caotang Campus). The First ICCV Paper Accepted: A good news just came from the ICCV 2013 Program Chairs, Kyros Kutulakos, Yi Ma, Steve Seitz, Phil Torr that Dr. Cheng Deng'a paper (Paper#: 1392 Title: Visual Reranking through Weakly Supervised Multi-Graph Learning) was accepted as a poster by ICCV 2013. It is the first ICCV paper for VIPS Lab after 1 paper for CVPR 2011 and 3 papers for CVPR 2012. Opening Ceremony for New Semester: On August 31, 2013, the opening ceremony for new semester was held at Room II-241, the Main Building by the VIPS Lab (i.e., the Lab of Big Data Mining and Deep Learning). Almost all the Ph.D. students and Master students participated this ceremony. First, the Video for the VIPS Lab was played before the ceremony. Then all the advisors gave a welcome speech. Attending the NIPR Symposium: From February 15 to 19, 2012, Prof. Gao attended the Symposium on Conjugate Aurora and SuperDARN--Past, Present and Future hosted by the National Institute of Polar Research, Japan, to celebrate Prof. Natsuo Sato's retirement. Prof. Sato is the Vice Director of NIPR and the pioneer of polar research in Japan. In recent years, VIPS Lab have some collaboration with Polar Research Institute of China (PRIC), Shanghai and do some research on Aurora detection, classification and auroral oval segmentation. Visiting Prof. Wenwu's Lab: On February 13, 2012, Mr.Zhenxing Niu and Prof. Gao paid a visit to Prof.Wenwu Zhu's Lab in Tsinghua University. They have a deep discussion on the topic of social media analysis. This is a great success at the tier 1 conference of computer science. In 2010, Mr. Zhenxing Niu had a paper was accepted by the ACM Multimedia Conference, which was also a great success. Hosting CIVR2010: From July 5-7, 2010, VIPS Lab hosted the 2010 ACM Conference on Image and Video Retrieval (CIVR2010). The accept rate of the submission to CIVR2010 is 30%.
