With the popularity of the web-based technologies and the ubiquitous
broadband access, we have witnessed a growing number of video-sharing sites,
and more advanced video-oriented online services. More and more people are
learning and sharing knowledge by online educational videos because it is
easily obtained and has direct-viewing attraction, while they have to face a
daunting volume of video content. Therefore, a vertical video search engine
that harnesses online lecture videos for education purpose is highly
desired, and would not only lead to a more effective indexing and retrieval
of lecture videos, but also improve educational effectiveness and
efficiency. Thus, a workshop is organized to provide a communication
platform for researchers in this field. This workshop calls for
contributions on related theory, methodologies and algorithms associated to
video content analysis for education.
The workshop focuses on the presentation and discussion of recent advances
in video-retrieval technologies based on the features of lecture video. The
goal of this workshop is to achieve an applicable and influential system of
lecture video search.
Specifically, the workshop intends to address the following topics:
-
The challenges in lecture video identification / filtering, and
structuring;
-
The difficulties in the texts and other metadata recognition;
-
New advances in search enginevideo
indexing and retrieval.
